I'd probably be stricter on the order of march, and non-activated units route march onto the table by road, with a four-unit limit per road. Of course, a good deal depends upon the scale of action.

Having said that, the method used in this action had the 'feel' of units gradually being fed into a developing action - sort of like Gettysburg on the first day.

Coming up there will be a different kind of encounter action between the Hellenic Army and Second Turcowaz. This will be a race for a road nexus point...
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo...Archduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-61177461709489096192020-11-30T10:47:47.715-08:002020-11-30T10:47:47.715-08:00Good stuff! Interesting dilemma with using limited activations when marching the army onto the table, I had the same thing in my recent game. I have been wondering if in such circumstances one might allow a specified number of units to arrive on the table each turn, and use the activation card score only for units already on the table. This would reflect the marching column coming up as per 'order of the day' , but then having to be given new orders once on the field. In an encounter battle, it would not advantage either side. I may try this next time.. david in suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02945969485547328039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-91877475298337690532020-11-30T10:10:46.952-08:002020-11-30T10:10:46.952-08:00Hi Paul -

It would be nice to think of this campaign standing in the same company as, say, the Madasahatta Campaign or the 'Winterish War'.
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo.Archduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-88097073316626234952020-11-30T06:43:00.254-08:002020-11-30T06:43:00.254-08:00A tough battle Ion, I look forward to the battle E...A tough battle Ion, I look forward to the battle East of Salonika.
Regards,
Paul.Paul Liddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07671334487545618109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-54262765686459914132020-11-30T05:24:45.323-08:002020-11-30T05:24:45.323-08:00Archduke Piccolo,

As it turned out there really was nothing to inhibit Nazim pasha from pushing the action at the end - and it took a good two or three turns before suddenly his army took heavy losses in one go. It was one of those actions that really couldn't be called the moment one side 'went exhausted'.

I'm hoping the next one will have its own special points of interest, as well...
Cheers,
Archduke PiccoloArchduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-58722539104594240272020-11-29T23:38:05.366-08:002020-11-29T23:38:05.366-08:00Great game Archduke.
