You are quite welcome to 'copy' my model, but I can't offer any further detail than I have here, as I simply copied from the first postcard picture using fairly thin cardboard. The spars were mage from bamboo slivers or toothpick, or some similar wooden splinters.

The sails were made from tissue paper (selected because it had more 'texture' to it, over which were laid lengths of dark brown or black cotton soaked in PVA glue. This was a naval squadron I made some 15 years ago for a Mediaeval German army (DBM) then being used by a certain Wargames buddy. Unfortunately these cogs have been unemployed for more than a decade...

Very sad.
IonArchduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-63716234610870170662012-02-24T16:05:02.134-08:002012-02-24T16:05:02.134-08:00Wonderful looking model Ion.

Well at least in Ancient/Medieval games locally. I have recently completed my first Peter Pig ship to support my ECW armies. It is 1/450th and has some crew which I think add to the look.TWRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17980598327408683598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-37537631907242071372012-02-20T09:46:26.222-08:002012-02-20T09:46:26.222-08:00Yes, you really should make some more. But these were quite small models.

I didn't know anyone did these in 25mm scale, though. It sounds like a rather large vessel for the table-top (upwards of 18 inches in length for a fairly small vessel), or have I misunderstood the scale?

Meanwhile, although I haven't included any, I did consider placing a few 1:300 scale figures here and there anout decks. Over scale, of course, but they would probably look right...
Cheers,
IonArchduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6650770985225450559.post-26475946844286776902012-02-19T21:06:19.205-08:002012-02-19T21:06:19.205-08:00Very nicely done, I've always been a fan of th...Very nicely done, I've always been a fan of the Byzantine Navy and army.
