Just to take a break from the Ulrichstein Campaign to thank the readers and followers of this blog, and to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2013. Until the next instalment of the story, I'll leave you with a couple of images of Shakesburg...

An abandoned factory in sunny Christchurch. I do find this urban art form attractive and intriguing. |

I enjoy your blog. It serves as an inspiration for our own "Imagi-nations" here in southern Ontario.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year yourself!
Thanks for your response, John. You know, when I see new followers to this blog I like to look up what they are doing 'blogwise'. It is a handy way of discovering others doing the sort of thing I like doing. Somehow, that din't happen with yours, and, having looked (possibly again) can not explain why. From what I have seen just now, our wargaming tastes - give or take the fantasy stuff - seem pretty similar.
DeleteMind you, were it not for an iron self-discipline (it's probably something else, but let's settle for some gratuitous self-praise, here), I'd be into the steampunk genre myself. The notion has attracted me ever since the old 'Space, 1889' days.
Cheers,
Ion
nice pictures Mr Dowman. the art is interesting, however its a shame such talent is not to be found emoungst all those who apply sprayed paint upon walls.
ReplyDeleteoh and thanks for recomending the Book Master and Commander, I was in Pukekohe (you may have heard of it) the next door town to Waiuku and in the book shop (a good one) next to the model shop I bought a copy, sorry if my story is long winded but it seems odd that 2 good (book shop is better) places are right next to each other. oh in the model shop I bought a bag of balsa... made in ecuador (I actually read the spanish before I read the english)
Cheers, Gowan. Enjoy the story. Although plot driven, there's a lot of character development that you might find equally engaging.
DeleteHappy New Year Ion! Great work on the blog BTW.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading yours, too Rodger.
DeleteWe don't have street art that fancy :( only a bunch of Che Guevaras all over the place. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong walls.
ReplyDeleteOh, we have our pretty large share of poor demented schmucks who will probably never make much more of a mark upon the world than a monochromatic squiggle on someone's front fence. But I'll give them this: the sort of designs in these pictures derive from tagging. I never can quite read them, but I find the best examples hold my attention a whole deal longer than most modern art does. But then, I take the view that Philistinism is as legitimate a standpoint as any other.
DeleteCheers,
Ion
Happy New Year Ion, may 2013 bring on new and exciting modelling and wargame adventures.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Paul. Things are looking promising at that! All the best for the New Year and all to you and yours as well.
ReplyDeleteAll the best in the new year Ion, Let the games continue!
