My sincerest apologies to the readers and followers of this blog, but an unexpected, but perhaps not unforeshadowed, domestic upheaval is likely to mean there will be no activity in this blog-spot for a little bit of a while. You have no idea how much I regret this, and the circumstances leading to it.
Perhaps I will explain later. At any rate, I rather think I shall be having to reassess my life and where it (or, more appropriately perhaps, isn't) going. I do hope and intend, however, that 'normal' or, with luck and a bit of work, improved transmission will resume eventually, if not soon. I am especially sorry that I feel I have to suspend my explorations on the subject of Big Battles for Small Tables.
I can not say how far in the future this will be. I hope no more than a few weeks, it may only be days; but it might be a month or two. We'll see. Meanwhile: my grateful thanks go to readers for the friendships that I have discovered here, those patient enough to have followed the Archduke in his meanderings - so many projects begun and unfinished! - but for now...
À bientôt
Godspeed Archduke. See you on your return.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Conrad. It has been blog spots like yours that have kept me inspired.
DeleteBest wishes on whatever it is. May things go as well as they can and may you get back to gaming and blogging soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
My sincere thanks, Fitz-Badger. I guess it will be a matter of toughing it out. It's nothing life-threatening, mark you: just life changing.
DeleteBe well and hold on to the important things. We'll be awaiting your return.
ReplyDeleteI'll try, John: the art is figuring out what is important. Thank you for your support.
DeleteI hope everything works out okay. I will look forward to your return.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that, my Sun! :-) The light of my countenance is dimmed, but not extinguished.
DeleteHope things work out for you as soon as they can, take care
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks for your good wishes, Ian.
DeleteTake care of yourself and we will be waiting to read more from you when you can continue posting/gaming.
ReplyDeleteAlan
Thank you. By the by, I will from time to time be trolling through the blogs I follow - and others besides -. to see what's been did (and possibly what's been hid). I don't comment on everything I look at, but appreciate what I read and see all the same.
DeleteWishing you the best Ion! Hope all works out okay!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Rodger. The okay I get won't be the okay I would much prefer to have, but we can still hope for some sort of okay. All the best to you, and all.
DeleteSounds a bit serious Ion, Ill give you a ring tomorrow to see if there is anything you need a hand with.
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
Thanks, Paul - I'd appreciate the call and hearing from you as well.
DeleteEchoing the above comments, hope to see you back soon, and that life sorts itself out and seems more positive at the end of your travails.
ReplyDeletebest regards Mike
I hope I will be back renewed. Thanks, Mike.
DeleteWhatever is the cause and the outcome, you know that you have a lot of 'invisible' friends out in the blogosphere who - like me - are sending you their support and best wishes. I am sure that if we were able to, we would offer you something more concrete; in the meantime, we look forward to your next blog entry ... whenever it comes.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Bob
I am beginning to appreciate, Bob, just how many on-line friends I do have. The responses here I didn't expect. so I'm the more thankful for them.
DeleteHope things sort themselves out - good luck , Tony
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony. I'm also hoping for the best - whatever the 'best' may be.
DeleteAll the best Ion. Take a day at a time mate.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul - and this is good advice too easy to forget.
DeleteAll the best, Archduke. Keep on keepin on, as the great Bob Dylan says.
ReplyDeleteAaron
'Like the bird that flew', well I do feel rather tangled up and blue right now. But I've at least plenty to get busy with (making plum jam today). Thanks, Aaron.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear this. Both for your sake and for the selfish reason that I'll miss your blog.
ReplyDeleteI send good wishes that things will get sorted soon and in as good a fashion as possible. I've been through a few rough patches of various types over the years and if you want to bend an open ear or vent just drop me a line.
Ross
I appreciate the offer, Ross. I feel overwhelmed by the expressions of sympathy and support. Thank you.
DeleteSorry to hear that - sounds like you've rolled a few '1's recently. Hope to see you back posting soon and in the meantime hang on in there.
ReplyDeleteTim
Hangin' on, Tim: hangin' on.
DeleteWhatever the problem I wish you a speedy and satisfactory conclusion. Your's was one of the blogs that started me off. Just come back when you're ready.
ReplyDeleteYou know: it is a source of great pleasure to hear you say that about my blog. Thanks Joppy.
DeleteI hope you have a speedy resolution to whatever the issue is - and I will look forward to seeing back in the saddle in due course.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
DC
Thanks David. I know I'm being self-indulgent, but the responses I have received here are a great comfort.
DeleteI wish you a speedy and satisfactory resolution, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan. How the thing will be resolved or resolve itself, I don't know. But I do hope that I will be reconciled to whatever the future hold.
DeleteSorry to hear of your troubles Ion, wishing you a satisfactory and less trying path ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. It won't be easy: I just hope I'm tough enough.
DeleteSad news Ion, you'll be a big miss, take care.
ReplyDeletePaul.
Thanks Paul. It is not an easy time for us, it will involve big changes, but we'll survive it one way or another. There's others with less to hope for.
DeleteGood luck, it's best we can't know what is around the corner; how boring and terrifying would that be. Life is so precious, and so cruel, all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteInsightful comment, Mike, and timely. Thanks.
DeleteHang in there mate, relationships are always evolving and are not everything
ReplyDeleteYes, and a fair bit of evolution has gone on without my paying enough notice, I guess. Thanks for you comment, Al.
DeleteThank you all for your sympathy and supporting comments. I will always appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this Sir. Best wishes and hope you come back soon.
ReplyDeleteCheers, mate. I hope so too.
DeleteI add my thoughts and best wishes to those of your other e-friends. Rather than 'followers' of one another's blogs, we are fellow travellers and wargaming obsessives who enjoy seeing the fruits of each other's labours and reading the thoughts, comments and musings. Your 'small battles' series is a particularly interesting and thought-provoking set of posts. I look forward to more of them when life settles down, as it will.
ReplyDeleteIt's always darkest before the dawn.
All the best mate,
James
When the tough times come to an end, prospects will improve. Something to hang onto, at any rate! Thanks James.
DeleteWell said, James!
DeleteBest Wishes, Ion. Hope to see you on the blog-o-sphere again soon. Just so you know, your blog has been the biggest inspiration to me for a return to the simpler side of wargaming and how much fun it can be "playing with toy soldiers."
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind remarks, steven. i still think about war games from time to time, but just don't have the heart, yet, to 'do' war gaming. But that should change sometime...
