Last night I began and finished the final two warships for my Turcowaz (Turkish) navy.
Hayreddin Barbarossa - I looked up the name. Seems he was a very successful admiral in the time of Suleiman the Magnificent. |
Hamidieh - protected cruiser. I might add some secondary armament ... |
Finally, a couple of photos of the whole collection:
Hellenic Fleet:
Hellenic Fleet:
- Lemnos - modern Pre-Dreadnought battleship
- Hydra - ironclad/ coastal battleship
- Georgios Averof - armoured cruiser. This vessel looks larger than Lemnos, and the fact is it was longer, but displaced less, and its guns were not as heavy.
- Panthir - destroyer
- Ierax - destroyer.
- I have two reserve names for destroyer replacements or additions: Leon and Aetos.
The whole collection: 5 Hellenic and 6 Turcowaz vessels. |
- Turgut Reis - older Pre-Dreadnought battleship
- Hayreddin Barbarossa - older Pre-Dreadnought battleship
- Messudieh - ironclad/ coastal defence battleship
- Hamidieh - protected cruiser
- S165 Muavenet - destroyer
- S166 Yadigar - destroyer.
- I have two reserve names for destroyer replacements or additions: S167(?) Numune and S168(?) Gayret.
Ready for the battles...Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteGetting close! Wood 'sealed' (I hope) with a coating of PVA, and painting to start today. They'll probably get a basic coat of beige spray paint (for the decks) and the grey and possibly a red 'waterline'.
DeleteI thought a single ship action to begin with - I even have the whole narrative up until the meeting worked out in my head.
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo.
Great looking collection of vessels Archduke.
ReplyDeleteHi Maudlin -
DeleteThat'll be about it, except maybe a merchant vessel or two. I'm toying with adding to each side a third destroyer/ torpedo boat, but that can wait.
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo.
You've been very busy at the Scratch Modelling your Compact Scale Ships - it will be good to see them in a future Sea Battle action. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteHi Kev -
DeleteI believe you have been one of the inspirations for my naval activities in recent times! I still have to do my 'Week Three' campaign 'narratives', and to paint up these ships, but I'm pretty pleased with this last week's progress!
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo.
A fine fleet in the making.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sun -
DeleteIt's a fine fleet made - I don't plan on adding more. I reckon there's plenty to work with here! I may add a couple of merchant vessels though.
Best -
Archduke Piccolo.
Archduke Piccolo,
ReplyDeleteThese models are even more impressive when seen all together.
I look forward to seeing them in action in the near future.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob -
DeleteTo quote a certain Nancy Blackett: 'It's more fun with a fleet!'
Paint job first - then action. What do you reckon of a single ship duel between 'Messudieh' (WITH its main guns installed) and 'Hydra'?
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo.
Great to see you're a Ransome reader too Archduke
DeleteIt has been quite a while since, though, Maudlin!
DeleteExcellent work, Archduke!
ReplyDeleteRegards, Chris.
Thanks, Chris. I'm finding I'm no hand at painting ships, though... :(
