I have finally finished a little project begin about 8 months back - a sister ship for the Hellenic Ironclad Coastal Battleship Hydra. This one will be Psara or Spetsnai, as occasion demands.
HNS Psara... or Spetsnai? |
The Coastal Battleship Division of the Hellenic Navy. Although these are 'sister' ships, the eagle-eyed viewer will have noticed certain differences in appearance and construction. That is because over time I got a little bit better at figuring out the naval architecture diagrams. I even noticed a gun pointing right out of the bows of the vessels. Now the Hellenic Navy comprises four capital ships and four destroyers, the same numbers as the Turcowaz fleet. The former is now very slightly the stronger. I will probably look a little more closely into ramming tactics of these war ships.

Come another war in the region. the Turcowaz Navy might not enjoy the good fortune in the First Blacklands War...
Fabulous! And no doubt they have better turning circles than long pointy ships.
ReplyDeleteI fudge that a bit, as the little wee fellows ought to have a tighter turning circle. I admit though that if the dimensions of the real things had the same length to beam ratio, they'd probably spin like coracles...
DeleteArchduke Piccolo,
ReplyDeleteAn excellent addition to the Hellenic fleet!
All the best,
Bob

DeleteI'm having a Buridan's Ass moment - which project to begin? The COVID situation as it is, the Darkest Aithiops campaign is on hold (with a battle imminent), but a WW2, 18th century, Second Blacklands War, Napoleonic, Sengoku and Harad all beckoning...
Man, it's GREAT being a war gamer, when even the dilemmas are fun.
Cheers,
Archduke Piccolo
Looking good! It's true though isn't it that as soon as you post a pic, the missed bits jump out at you in a way that they didn't when you were looking at the real thing.
ReplyDeleteRegards, Chris.
Hi Chris -
DeleteI recall Don Featherstone recommending photography as a kind of 'fresh look' at a model or figure. I'll be touching up both those warships some time soon...
Cheers,
